Good evening boys and ghouls, here’s a little tale about…candy! As you hand out the sugary sweets that put a smile on the faces of trick-or-treaters (and put your dentist’s kids through college), make sure that the candy you are treating them to is union made.
Many of your favorite sweets are produced by members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my favorite candy – Mike & Ike – is union made by BCTGM Local 6. It makes those little bits of heaven go down that much sweeter.
But Mike & Ike isn’t the only delicious treat made by hard-working union members. Members of BCTGM Local 348 (Cambridge, Mass.) are the folks behind the popular Halloween staples NECCO Wafers and Clark Bar. Members of BCTGM Local 125 (Oakland, Calif.) please your palate with their Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. Many other well known treats are also made by BCTGM members, including Jolly Ranchers, Kit Kat bars, Sweethearts, and butterfingers.
So when you stock up on Halloween candy to appease the hordes of costumed kiddies that will descend upon your doorstep, be sure to buy union. Because when you support companies with union workers, you aren’t just buying quality products–you’re supporting the rights of workers to have fair wages and benefits. And that’s a treat we can all enjoy.

I can’t just pick one. I love them all, especially since my union family makes them. Its great enjoying these treats knowing no one suffers to make them.
Nice article, I like your blog, This is my first visit to your blog, thank you
Was a big surprise for me know the lot of sweet treats made for our brothers, members of the different Unions like us. Thanks a lot for your hard-working and God Bless you, in each city or town of this Country where you work.
Please don’t support or buy anything made by Hersheys. Hersheys of Pennsylvania had a large manufacturing plant out here in Oakhurst California and closed the plant laying everyone off and moved it to Mexico where there are no labor unions. They don’t deserve our american dollars.
Hello there, You have done an incredible job. I’ll definitely digg it and in my opinion suggest to my friends. I’m confident they’ll be benefited from this site.
