Let Congress know: There’s no time to waste on extending unemployment benefits

If Congress doesn’t act by November 30, the lifeline for millions of out-of-work Americans will run out, and job seekers across the country will be left out in the cold for the holidays. It will only be a few days before Congress breaks for Thanksgiving, so there’s no time to waste.

The National Employment Law Project (NELP) estimates that two million workers could see their unemployment insurance benefits expire by December, unless Congress acts quickly to restore benefits. And it’s not just the unemployed on the chopping block. It’s our struggling economy, which is in dire need of more consumer spending—not less.

Usually holiday shopping sales give the economy a boost, but the expiration of unemployment benefits means that families struggle to pay their bills and put food on the table, let alone purchase gifts. Fortunately, there’s something you can do.

Call 877-662-2889 now! Tell Congress to extend jobless benefits for the working families hit hardest by the Great Recession. Let’s get the holidays off to a good start.
