WASHINGTON, DC— In reaction to the new CBS show, “Undercover Boss,” premiering last night after the Super Bowl, labor policy and advocacy group American Rights at Work launched a grassroots campaign and website called FixOurJobs.org.

“Undercover Boss” follows CEOs walking a mile in their workers’ shoes to see firsthand the challenges they face, suggesting a few bosses are ready for a change of heart.

“It’s a fantasy that our problems can be fixed through TV shows,” says American Rights at Work Executive Director Kimberly Freeman Brown. “The reality is millions of America’s workers who are unemployed or mistreated need real change now. “

The website, www.FixOurJobs.org, provides workers with a platform to share what isn’t working about work anymore.  The group is also launching a campaign to encourage citizens to call on Congress to fix America’s jobs through meaningful labor law reform.

“America’s working people feel unheard and we’re here to turn up the volume on their demands for leaders in Washington,” says Brown.

Brown continues, “Whether you think ‘Undercover Boss’ is an earnest effort by corporate America to make amends or the show is a gimmick used by CEOs for free advertising, the bottom line is that change occurring on camera for a few select workplaces is not enough.”

A press call will be held later in the week to highlight campaign developments and feature policy experts and workers highlighting the real crisis of dangerous conditions, unfair demands in the workplace, wage theft, inadequate benefits, and how labor reform is critical to ensure all Americans have opportunities and a voice and in the workplace.
